The Bold Legacy
This series of three posters draws inspiration from the bold, concept-driven approach of the New York School movement. Using the analog paper collage method, I constructed a symbolic figure of a “Big Apple” character wearing an I ♥ NY shirt, a direct nod to Milton Glaser’s iconic design. The posters embrace the movement’s signature use of dynamic typography, strong visual contrasts, and minimal yet impactful compositions.
By layering hand-cut elements, I aimed to capture the raw, experimental energy that defined mid-20th-century graphic design while bringing a tactile, human quality to the work. This project merges historical inspiration with contemporary reinterpretation, demonstrating how past design principles continue to shape modern visual storytelling.
