The DeChIt Journey

The DeChIt Journey is a testament to the Typography Then & Now Summer 2024 study abroad program, capturing the profound influence of Western typography, culture, and design on contemporary graphic practice. Accompanied by a group of Graphic Design students and professors from East Carolina University, I traveled across Germany, Switzerland, and Italy, exploring the origins and evolution of typographic traditions.

This book serves as both a visual and reflective archive of that experience, documenting key historical insights, hands-on workshops, and personal interpretations of the design legacies encountered. From the Bauhaus in Dessau to the letterpress studios of Italy, The DeChIt Journey weaves together research, experimentation, and creative response—bridging the past with the present to inform the future of graphic design.
